Crate Tx15 Taxi Battery Power Instrument/microphone Combo Amplifier (15 Watts 1x8 In.) Crate Guitar Combo Amps Guitars, Amps, and Effects Feature: For the money, its features are more than adequate. A simple reverb option would be a nice addition. Quality: Well built and sturdy so far. Value: Until they fix the preamp problems this box is only good for basic portable announcing. Desirability: Good, practical design. Sound: Tweaking the 4 band EQ will improve the sound quite a bit. But theres a fairly serious weakness: Low frequencies, say from the bottom strings of a guitar, cause higher frequencies to be suppressed. So, for instance, if you strum a chord on the guitar, youll notice the upper strings are barely heard. The vocal mic is also suppressed. Ive been in contact with Crate and they admit its a design issue. Support: Quick response from the CS department regarding the sound problem. But no resolution yet. Well see... Having 3, speerate channels is the way if youre not using a floorboard in your rig. Lots of volume for the size (a semi-svelte 34lbs). Only 2 things I would add is a line out (post EQ/effects; pre-power amp) and a mute feature for the built-in tuner. Quality: Seems to be very well made. Value: A LOT of amp for the money Desirability: The VTX65 has a cool 60s retro look to it. However, it;s pseudo-twin, the RFX65 (only available from the *other* guys), is arguably more stylish. Sound: Very versatile. Nice having 3, seperate channels (including level/volume) Overall: This will be my main gig amp and will do almost everything I need for the variety of music we play. Quality: So far, it seems really well made and sturdy. The handle is hard and part of the casing, easy to carry, and I am not too worried about messing anything up. Value: Worth the price, I would have paid more. Desirability: I like the look, I am proud to own it, I show it off all the time. Sound: The second I plugged my Ovation into this amp, I was in love. The sound is amazing, it puts out the sound of my acoustic so clean it just makes my guitar sing. I became a better player just by buying this amp. The effects are gentle, I have been able to find every sound I have attempted to go for so far. I have played only on amps for electric guitars, and always had fun with them, but I will never go back now that I have heard how full and beautiful my acoustic can be with this amp. The dials are very simple . Reverb is good . However, if you are planning on adding a pedal effects board think again . TECH SUPPORT WAS NOT HELPFUL HERE AND THE UNIT DOES NOT TAKE WELL TO PEDAL BOARDS Quality: Very well made . Value: Great value but you must be able to do without a pedal board . In light of the fact that you are then stuck with reverb only it is something to consider . Desirability: good looking product but you will need to stereo it . I use it with another Crate head that HAS ONBOARD EFFECTS with a Y connector box .I also use it with another V100H and the sound is quite wonderful . Sound: LOUD AND IN OVERDRIVE WILL BE HEARD ABOVE A DRUMMER . I have 2 and they are stereod . With this configuration your drummer will not outvolume you . Ease of Use: ADDING PEDAL BOARDS IS UNWELCOME BY THIS HEAD . Perhaps if tech support were more helpful it MIGHT work better . Support: I still have not been able to use a pedal effect with this board and i have been playing 50 years . Overall: This should do it but Crate MUST DO SOMETHING WITH INTEGRATING AN EFFECTS PEDAL . Simple 3 button foot pedal that switches in between the gains, cleans, and effects. Wheels for rolling the sucker, which isnt that heavy anyway. Built in tuner on the top. Quality: Looks really great and futuristic. Good quality. Sound: This amp can produce any sound you want really. I use the clean more, and its very clear and beautiful. The high gain is intense, and with the right noise supressor sounds really well too. Whenever I do use gain, I use the regular built in overdrive. It works like magic and sounds unblemished. Ease of Use: You plug it in, set up your sound, and play. The only kinda confusing part is the effects and working it out on the pedal. Support: Havent had to call. I didnt get a manual with it though, but they have that on their website. Overall: A damn good amp for the money. And loud enough for venues. My complaint is that you cant set the delay time for the delay. Quality: Pretty reliable. Its road worthy. Value: for the price, its good. If you want a differents sound youll probably have to spend more. Desirability: Fairly sexy. Has a somewhat retro look. Sound: It sounds very proccessed, almost digital. This works for a lot of stlyes, especially metal. But if you want a raw guitar tone, keep looking. Also, its not very loud. I was using a quiet guitar with single coil pickups, and it barely got over the drums. Ease of Use: Its an amp. You plug in and youre off. Support: n/a Overall: Everything is good except for the two most important things, the tone and the volume. Figure out what your priorities are. Keep on rockin.
