Blue Kick Ball Dynamic Microphone Blue Dynamic Instrument Microphones Recording Feature: The Eq switch is a great feature. Value: High SPL for a low price. Desirability: This thing looks awesome. Once you have one, all your friends who see it will want one. Be the cool guy and buy it first. Sound: Bass response, with clarity. Eq switch is nice. Overall: Heres the deal. This is an awesome microphone. Ive used it on a number of things. I love it on a bass cab. It made my Djembe sound awesome, and it was able to handle the loud low THUMP that it produced. Along with clarity. The thing that I havent heard many people say is that this is not just for bass. It captures the high end as well. Meaning, you can use it for vocals, and miking guitar cabs. Skip the Blue Ball, Get the Kick Ball, and also buy the 8Ball. Small note, these are now made in China. Blue mics are made in the US, except the Ball mics. They are made in China. Not Latvia. Years ago they were made there, along with all other blue mics. Years ago. So dont complain when you see the made in China sticker. Who cares. Blue Ball Dynamic Microphone Blue Dynamic Instrument Microphones Recording Feature: No accessories. Dont really need any though. Sounds great with Monster or Pro-Co cable. Seriously not-so-great with cheap cables (seeing as how better, and usually thicker, cables carry low frequencies better anyways). The low HF rolloff comes in handy more than youd think. Quality: It sounds totally great for its price and i wouldnt expect any less in the electronics coming from BLUE. Honestly though, I wish it were metal instead of plastic. Im always worried about it getting cracked. Value: Well, its the only one I know of with specs like it out there. And it sounds great. And its pretty cheap. Desirability: Man, this thing gets chicks too, let me tell ya. Just look at it. Sound: Really quiet with a great low end punchy sound. Ive used for bass drum (along with a condenser) , trombone and bass cabinet. Ive found it better for loud, rock type music. Not the most colorful mic but plenty of mid presence pushes any low freq instrument through. Support: BLUE is Great! And really funny. Totally awesome customer support. I own many of their products and its always fun to talk to them. Warrenties have never been a negative issue. Overall: As long as its electronics stay good and it doesnt get cracked, ill be using it. Blue Bluebird Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphone Blue Large Stand mount Condenser Microphones Recording Feature: It picks up audio. What other features are there? Quality: The microphone is solid. Ive used it on some extremely loud instruments on stage close micd, and it always comes out clean. The shockmount is poorly welded though. The outer ring that attaches to the stand has broken, and slips. This is corrected by adjusting the angle of the boom on the stand, but its a minor annoyance. Value: For the price, you cant beat this mic. Desirability: It certainly looks nice and different. Sound: When I bought this microphone, I was looking into higher end mics at the local store. I was trying a bunch of mics out costing as high as $1000, and wasnt really happy with any of them. The salesperson suggested that I try this one, and immediately fell in love with it. The high end is crisp and strong, and the low end is smooth and rich. I often bring it with me to record live shows and have used it on every instrument and have yet to find a weak point in its sound. Unfortunately, it is a dynamic, so in the studio youre going to need a pretty powerful preamp to catch quieter vocals, but apart from that there are absolutely no downsides to this microphone. Its one of the best Ive used. Ease of Use: Sounds great. Support: Havent had to use it. Overall: I love this mic, and will be using it for many years. Quality: Feels hefty, sounds great. Value: Amazing! Desirability: Killer! Sound: This is the real deal. For the money I dont know if theres a better deal out there. I have an Oktava MK319 which rules in its own way, but-The Blue Baby Bottle is in a league all its own! Very low self noise, and sounds great on electric guitar. Havent tried it on vocals yet, but will later this week. Support: Cant rate this. Im thinking I wont need to. Just byu looking at their website, I think support will be good if needed. Motivates its users to a whole new level. Quality: Doesnt get much better than BLUE when it comes to quality. Each mic is tested before it leaves manufacturing and is hand built. Sound: Although the mic has an airy essence to its highs, it creates a very smooth sound with very even output. If youre looking for something thats just for vocals then take this Blue over the Dragonfly otherwise I think the Dragonfly is more universal. Overall: Great looking mic with equal capacity to perform. With a mic like this its up to the engineer to tweek the sound cause theres no doubt the mics done its job.
