The only thing it could maybe have would be a Gain section to dial in overdrive with a real 12Ax7 tube, but not necessary Quality: Nice sturdy case and solid construction Value: About the same as a pre-amp but much less than buying a pre-amp and a BBE maximizer and better sounding Desirability: Very subtle effect at first, but after using it for 10 minutes, turn the effect off and you will be surprised at how bad your sound was before you bought this pedal. Sound: This is an amazing piece of equipment. This will fatten your sound without making it muddy. If you can run this through your effects loop you will get the best results versus running this between your bass in amp. A must have for any bass rig. Support: Havent had to use it, but nice useful website Overall: The features are very easy to understand and is basically my preamp now. Ive owned tons of gear and more knobs definately doesnt mean better. This is very simple and is an all-in-one box to enhance your sound, pre-amp/EQ, and direct box. Aphex 1403 Electric Guitar Exciter Pedal With Di Aphex Guitar Other Effects Guitars, Amps, and Effects Feature: 4 Knobs and a few switches. Everything you need and not complicated. Best feature was it runs on virtually any power supply. Quality: The main footswitch could be better. You have to be a little careful or you might break it. Value: Best $100 bucks I ever spent. Desirability: Aural Exciter - the name says it all. Sound: It took about an hour to get the tone I was looking for but with a little patience and some EQ it was better than expected. I also tried the Maximizer but took it back. It just doesnt do what the Exciter does which gives me the rich professional tone Ive always been looking for. Its almost like its breathing on the highs and chunks on the bottom without the mud. Ease of Use: Like anything you have to work at it a little to get the tone you want. I havent seen anything that works great on all guitars, amps, speakers, pickups, and styles out of the box, Support: Didnt need any. Overall: Im done searching for the magic guitar tone Ive always wanted. My tone was fine before but this gives it that polish that is the differance between a basement band sound and pro. Aphex 204 Aural Exciter And Big Bottom Aphex Studio Enhancers Recording Feature: This unit is well made and features pro connectivity. Quality: Well built and is all pro. Value: This is the single best way to improve your sound. Try it! Sound: I kept hearing about this thing and wanted to try it out. I found a used one and picked it up. I ran it through a simple PA rig (Peavey 684 Mixer-amp and 2 Yamaha CM12Vs) and was amazed. I hooked up my MiniDisk player and got what I thought was a decent sound with the 204 bypassed. When I kicked it in I had the levels turned down to gradually bring in the effect. I started to think I wasted my money because the effect was so subtle. When I went back to A/B the effect I was totally blown away! When I went back to the sound I thought was good before the 204, it sounded like I had cotton stuffed in my ears! The unit makes even the smallest PA sound HUGE! And it is ever so subtle. Once it is gone, though, you know its missing! I will be buying another one of these to put in my larger PA rack and one more for my bass rig! Great unit!! Ease of Use: This is a good unit, but like most good processors, experimentation is the key. Invest some time to learn all that this thing can do. Support: Never had to deal with them.
