The WX5 features 4 fingering modes, pitch bend wheel (assignable), and 2 mouthpieces (sax with reed and recorder without reed). It sends program change and bank select and offers XG, GS, and VL compatibility.
    Feature:
Saxophone B fingering is best for my use. Its convenient to have both a recorder-style and sax-style mouthpiece (the latter providing lip-pressure as well as the standard wind sensitivity).

    Quality:
Its light, its plastic. But, its well built.

    Sound:
Coupled with Yamahas VL-70M with Patchman Musics chip installed, this sound is exceptional, given the limitations of synthesis. Try playing a little Bird or Sanborn, and itll inspire you.

    Overall:
This is a "keeper". Now I can play sax at midnight without waking anyone. If its good enough for pros, like Tom Scott, then its certainly good enough for a dabbler like me!

Feature:
to fully utilize this synth you need to use the editing software that comes with it, but its only for windows and I have a mac

Quality:
it didnt fit that well into my keyboard, i had to use a screw driver and the iron claw technique to get it in, but it didnt break and works perfectly

Value:
if i knew I couldnt use the software I wouldnt have bought it, I will probably return it

Desirability:
yea circuit boards turn me on

Sound:
the preset sounds are not that good, theres only a handful of usable ones. most require editing to sound good. maybe you can create good sounds using the editing software but I wouldnt know (see below).

Ease of Use:
cant really say cause I cant use the software

Support:
never used it

Overall:
again I cant really comment on the overall quality cause I cant use the software, if you have a mac dont buy it

Digital Stage Pianos

Feature:
The best feature is.....ITS 12 POUNDS! Thought this could replace my heavier board which Im tired of luggin but the sound doesnt make it.

Quality:
Seems to be well-made for the weight but sound quality isnt there. Worst aspect is only piano & strings are nearly usable. Organ & other sounds are poor.

Value:
I think youre better off with an entry-level PSR Yamaha if youre a beginner or the P70 (twice the price) if youre a pro.

Desirability:
Best feature.........ITS 12 POUNDS! Thats all its got.

Sound:
The piano sound doesnt cut it if youre trying to use it with a working band. Its harsh, honky, mid-rangy. Maybe with the right EQ it could sound good. Run my keys through a Roland KC500. The far-cheaper PSR280s piano sounds better than this AND youll get almost 300 other voices.

Ease of Use:
Turn it on & play it but if you plug a sustain pedal in while its on it reverses the function (pain-in-the-butt).

Support:
Sent my unhappy attitude in an email to Yamaha & they have yet to respond. I own MANY other Yamaha products (Acoustic piano,PA Speakers,P200 high-end digital piano) that I am thrilled with.

Overall:
Sorry I bought this. Wish I knew how poor it sounded before I bought it but from a box house......I didnt hassle to return it. Maybe I can move it on EBay or Craigslist.
