The Helix Board 24FW MkII sounds great and works hard both in and out of the studio. It features a 96 KHz FireWire interface that lets you individually stream up to 18 independent channels of audio to the computer and return 2 channels to the mixer for monitoring -- all with near-zero latency.
Feature:
Pretty much does everything a MixWiz will, but this has the added option of Firewire I/O.
Quality:
Time will tell. Ive had this board for 6 months running the show in a rack, and had no problems. I have an old Phonic board Ive used for about 15 years, and had a scratchy pot. No other problems. I dont expect any,
Value:
This is a steal. Look at a Presonus firepod and its limited capabilities then look at this.
Desirability:
LOL. It looks like a mixer.
Sound:
Very transparent preamps. Many of the effects are good as well, but I do not use them (have another source) so we can use all of the aux channels for personal monitor mixes.
Ease of Use:
Its a mixing board. Know how to run one? Then this one is a piece o cake.
Support:
Never dealt with them.
Overall:
This thing is great for live use. Weve used it with great results in the studio as well. The drivers worked perfectly and everything worked great with a desktop. Had limited luck with a laptop. This board is worth every penny.

Phonic Firefly 808 18-channel Firewire Audio Interface Phonic Firewire Audio Interfaces Computer Music Feature: A feature I dont like is the Cross Fader, you cant save the setting so it always comes up in Bus-1 from PC mode. In other words if I dont want to hear the input monitor all of the time I cant save this in the mixer panel. You have to go into the mixer and move the fader all the way to the right. Quality: Seems like a strong box, even if it is made in China. Value: With all of the ins and outs on this unit you cant beat the price. Sound: Sounds great, equal to my RME multiface II. Ease of Use: Very simple to use. Works with Samplitude-10 with no problems. Support: Have not made contact with them yet. And hope I never have to. Overall: Plan on adding another. Get full 16 I/Os. Value: similar systems were $200+ above this one cant beat it Desirability: its a mixer... sorry but i will say its lived up to my expectations and then some! Sound: i used to run sound for a small club and i used my mackie cfx20, we got this for the band to record demos and practice. great sound quality i can say i dont hear a difference bewteen the boards and mind you i paid over $1000 for the mackie when i got it new 10 years ago. Ease of Use: super simple! installed drivers and we were recording within 30mins! Support: havent used it, but im giving it a nine because the instruction manuel was very easy to read and figure out Overall: super great starter into both live sound and recording. ive used much more "sophisticated" equiptment for both and im loveing this machine. but this now!!!
