Feature:
Lots of productivity enhancements. Window sets are cool... with one click, I can make it look just like PT. Clients never know the diff, visiting engineer types feel at home, and I can work much faster. Really versatile import/export features. Can open & save OMF files without expensive "translator" software. Every type of editing feature imaginable. Bundled softsynths are cool and AU support allows access to tons of 3rd party plugs. Midi editing features very powerful.
Quality:
Has not crashed once on my system.
Value:
Competitive upgrade a good deal.
Desirability:
A real workhorse program. I rarely use a 2 track editor, file utility, mp3 converter, or even ProTools anymore. Not flashy or gimmicky, just really powerful.
Sound:
Sound quality as good as anything out there. Nice bundle of plug-ins included. Bounce to disk happens faster than real time... kicks ProTools butt.
Ease of Use:
Fast and easy recording/editing. Fully customizable commands. Interface easy to look at for long periods.
Support:
Have not yet needed support.
Overall:
Gonna stay with Motu. The hardware sounds fantastic. Love the 896HD. Digi 002 is going on ebay...

MOTU supplies GREAT drivers, and updates them as needed, but generally VERY solid out of the box. Mark Of The Unicorn (motu) 828mk3 Firewire Audio Interface Mark Of The Unicorn motu Firewire Audio Interfaces Computer Music Feature: The overview from MOTU is a bit misleading and they dont give you an idea of a practical use for the on board DSP. After spending many hours trying to figure it out, I am still in the dark. The outputs only come in pairs, so all the effects they brag about can be applied to stereo pairs only. Also, reverb doesnt work at 96khz and above! Whats the use. Why would you record at 44.1khz on an interface thats built for 192khz??? They also dont tell you that up front. Then, there is no use of the effects on outputs if you dont have an external mixer, and if you had one, why would you use EQ on the card anyway? No way to patch them back into the mix. Very disappointing. Quality: well, it didnt break yet, after a few days of use, mainly trying to figure it out. Value: the price is about right Desirability: looks nice, some call it sexy. Sound: Sounds pretty good. I had MOTU traveler before it, cant really tell the difference. Ease of Use: so, so... maybe I am stupid or it has too many features, and again, they dont talk about the practical use, just the technical side, and even that is confusing and not very detailed. Others are complaining about it too. Support: Didnt call them up yet, but will do as soon as they open on Monday.
