If you are looking for classic Les Paul looks and a humbucker sound, it is hard to go wrong with the incredibly affordable Special II. There really hasnt been a Les Paul deal like this in a long time. Features include a Mahogany neck, a Rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, volume and tone control, and chrome hardware.
Feature:
There wasnt anything included with this except a couple of allen wrenches and a small 5 foot cord.
Quality:
The quality is okay. I got this for Christmas and right out of the box, there was a four in crack in the clear coat at the stop tail piece where it had been drilled in way to hard. That made me pretty upset as you would guess. The neck is not as parallel to the body as it should be but its not terrible.
Sound:
Okay, let me begin by saying you get what you pay for with this guitar. The sound of this guitar is pretty decent for its price. It doesnt have the hottest sustain, but its okay in that department. When I purchased this guitar I wasnt a beginner at playing, but I didnt know much about what made guitars sound how you want them to. I put DiMarzio Evolutions in this guitar and it did increase the sound quality. You cant get a really deep or thick sound from this which is a downer. But over-all this is not a horrible guitar. I recently took a few steps up and sold this guitar and bought a Jackson DKMG: its amazing =]
Ease of Use:
This guitar is pretty easy to deal with. Tuning and re-stringing it is not a pain in any way. The knobs are in easy to reach places unlike a real Les Paul with the tone switch near the neck.

Quality: Mine was nearly perfect right out of the box. Great finish Value: If you are a player YES not for collectors Desirability: It is not practical as your only guitar, it makes a great addition mostly for lead. Sound: It needs a little tweaking of the action I raised it just a tiny bit and tweaked the harmonics a bit. Now it is a 9. Ease of Use: There is SO MUCH neck, you need to position your fingers a bit to get crisp sound on the upper frets, really just back to the basice play real close to the fret. Support: I have 2 epiphones never had to use support Overall: I usually keep my guitars forever, Ill keep this one too. Dont plan on taking this out right away play it for awhile, after about 2 hours of playing I was just begining to feel comfortable, but I was well aware of this before purchasing.
